Steel Crazy was founded in 2002 and incorporated in 2013 by Manufacturing Engineer, Sam Worbes, in order to create solutions for a group of Yakima innovators that were looking for expertise to bring their ideas forward to the marketplace. Most metal fabrication shops don’t want to bother with one or two items (one-offs), but Steel Crazy loves the challenge of offering high quality products at a fair price. If the product / project / prototype is a success for our customer, then we are happy to continue serving them through a larger production of the item in our Yakima machine shop, if needed.
Since its inception, Steel Crazy has primarily been prototyping and manufacturing parts for the launcher for one of the military drones.

The technical and engineering expertise of Steel Crazy owner, Sam Worbes, has been instrumental in applying innovative thought to improve clients’ products. He analyzes the client’s drawing and looks for areas in which to improve the manufacturing process or the product itself then makes those recommendations to clients. The recent acquisition of a WaterJet machine increases the options we can offer to customers.
This attention to detail and standards of excellence has saved production time and reduced costs for our customers and enabled us to work together to work out possible issues before the first prototype is ever made.
Sam also has extensive experience in working on dozens of types of Hot Rods and classic cars. Steel Crazy’s variety of machines easily facilitate one-off or small batch custom parts for your project.
Steel Crazy purchased Yakima Plastics at the end of 2016. The company moved its shop to the new location at 2002 Fruitvale Blvd. in Yakima and has expanded into this larger fabrication facilitation. Steel Crazy is now offering metal work opportunities to Yakima Plastics Design and Supply customers. This results in one-stop machine shop for those products that are a mix of metal and plastics.
